Male Characters
There are nine male characters for you to play: Bad-boy Bob, Bernie, Deryl, Gary (Magnet), Josh, Mark, Mike, Nicolas, and Simon. Of the 17 characters available to play, there are only 16 because someone has to be the bartender. Magnet is the bartender by default, but if you choose him as a player character, then someone else has to play that role. In order or game preference, Mike, Linda, Red, Simon will fill in. So if you play with Magnet, Mike and Linda, then Red becomes the bartender. Gary (Magnet) and Josh are new characters and the rest seem to have kept their characteristics from Singles 1. Since I have those figures handy, I'll provide them for the old characters, but I don't have much that's concrete on Magnet or Josh. It looks like the character preferences also carried over from Singles 1, so I'll fill those in where I can. If you're offended by virtual nudity, head for GameFAQs to pick up essentially the same info from the FAQ on Singles 1 without pictures, of course.
James, the gay character from Singles 1, did not make a return, although they thought about it. Here's his description from Singles 2 where his name would have been Tom: Even as a little boy, Tom preferred dressing up his sister's dolls to playing with his toy train. Since then he has turned his passion for fashion into a career and he is getting on well. There's just one thing he's missing: the right partner. After all, these short-lived affairs won't help his personal growth...
In the information under each character you will find values assigned to certain personality characteristics. Unless the information for each character says otherwise, all characters have a default value of 5 (normal) for each characteristic. Those with high values gain a bonus (or penalty, depending on your perspective) of 5% per point over 5, to a maximum of 125% of normal. Those with low values lose 5% per point below 5, to a minimum of 80%.
EXTROVERTED: characters who have a high value for this will find their Friendship meters rising and falling faster than normal; characters with a low value will find it rising and falling slower than normal. Friendship activities affected by this characteristic include Small Talk, Gossip, Chat about Hobbies, talking on the phone, running, and swimming (up to 125% of normal); activities such as chatting on the computer, boxing, doing pushups, posing for photos, (receive up to 190% of normal); but solitary activities such as playing on the computer, playing the guitar, reading, and meditating receive as little as 30% of the normal boost.
PLAYFUL: characters who have a high value will find their Fun and Erotic meters rising and falling faster than normal; characters with a low value will find these rising and falling slower than normal. Activities such as teasing, playing the guitar, reading, telling jokes, chatting on the computer, painting, receiving gifts, talking on the phone, swimming, watching news, watching romantic movies, watching comedy, watching horror movies, taking pictures, romantic kissing, sex, kissing in bed, french kissing, snuggling, and flirting receive a bonus of up to 125% of normal. Activities such as board games, playing on the computer, boxing, dancing, watching action movies receive a bonus of up to 190% of normal. Characters with a low playfulness value receive less than normal satisfaction from these activities.
TIDINESS: characters with a high value will find that daily dirt decreases the "room" meter more than normal. Consequently, they will self-start cleaning activities more frequently and will go to work on time more frequently. Characters with a low value will seldom self-start cleaning activities and will frequently delay going to work (and coming back from work). Along with this value, characters also have a hidden MESSY value. The messier a chartacter is, the more dirt they will generate. Characters with a high tidiness value have a lower than normal need for Justice, and will have fewer blow-ups with other characters. Characters with a low tidiness value have a higher need for Justice and will have more frequent blowups with other characters. Activities affected by this characteristic include washing dishes, going to, watering the herb garden, feeding the fish, taking out the trash, doing hair, and cleaning.
FRIENDLINESS: characters with a high value will find their Romantic meters rising and falling faster than normal; characters with a low value will find their Romantic meters rising and falling slower than normal. Activities affected by friendliness include, kissing (not in bed), holding hands, snuggling, romantic talk, compliments, saying "I Love You", and watering the herb garden. Characters with a low friendliness value will actually gain up to 190% of normal fun when boxing.
NEUROTIC: characters with a high value will find that their Energy and Hygeine meters fall faster than normal (resulting in more naps and trips to the bathroom) ; characters with a low value will find these meters falling slower than normal. The Energy meter will fall 1% faster for each point over 5 or 1% slower for each point less than 5.The Hygine meter works at the usual 5% increments. You will also find that as you establish routines for each of your characters, those with a high value will stick to their schedules much better than those with a low value. Characters with a high neurotic value gain bonuses with activities such as washing hands, and drinking coffee. They have penalties for calling for pizza, posing for photos, and swimming.

(if playing as Josh in story-mode): Josh is a talented musician and has no problems impressing other people. But when it comes to his music career he somehow lacks this drive. Accepting one odd job after another he always leaves them a week later to give him more time for his passion. (if playing Anna in story-mode or in free-play mode): Josh is young, intelligent and outgoing. Active and spontaneous, he works as a journalist for a music magazine. Although his job is hard work, he gets to know all sorts of people and is always up to date with trends in fashion or music. At home he is very relaxed and enjoys good food as well as romantic candlelight dinners. |

He is the most introverted character in the game, so you're going to have to be creative on finding fun things for him to do. He is also the most neurotic and ranks right in there with Linda and Mike when it comes to cleanliness (a slob). EXTROVERTED: 1 |

| Simon | ||

| Simon is the head of a music magazine. A slick manager who knows what to do to get his slice. Money, power and women are what his life’s about, ideally lots of all three. His friends get to drive with him in the fast lane, but beware if he sets his sights on you. | ||
Simon apparently has no preferences when it comes to movies and conversations (at least not that I've been able to find). His hobby is sunbathing and his vice is watching news. If you're pairing up roommates based upon similarities, he ought to do very well with Ellen. EXTROVERTED: 3 |
